Paul Fisher Music
Teaching & education
Paul is lead teacher in Brass for Hertfordshire Music Service and is also Principal Conductor of the Hertfordshire County Youth Brass – a role he has held since 2009.
As a Music Teacher in the primary school sector, Paul teaches brass to over 400 children every week in first access classes across the county of Hertfordshire. Paul runs a thriving primary brass band called ‘BRASS ATTACK’ which consists of 7-11 year olds, many of whom have been introduced to brass through the classroom scheme.
Paul wrote the BAND-TIME teaching method in 2014 for Conn Selmar in the UK, a fun and interactive music session used to inspire children through performance, singing and dancing.
Paul has worked for the Royal College of Music in London on education projects and has also conducted the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Brass Band in concert in 2019.
In 2020 during lockdown, Paul decided to setup a YouTube channel, Learning Through Music, which was designed for all his primary school students (and friends!) ensuring music education continued in the home. It's gone on to become a firm favourite in primary school education (and with home schoolers) in the UK and as far flung as Australia.
Paul is also director of music at Amersham Band, which in 2021 will open its brand new music academy.
